MUSICKINGS YOUTH BAND CLASH 2008

 

What is MusicKings Band Clash?

                                The MUSICKINGS BAND CLASH is a competition for youth bands to gain experience performing for an audience. Finalists will perform original and cover tunes at a professional venue, complete with outdoor stage, sound and massive audience!

When is the competition held?

                                The heats are held on Friday 19th September and Friday 26th  September, 2008. The final is held on Sunday October 5th, 2008 at the King Of The Village Carnival.

Where is the competition held?

                                The heats are held at the Logan Village Lion’s Hall, Wharf Street, Logan Village. The Village Beauty Model Search Competition heats will be on the same night as the band heats. The lucky MusicKings Band Clash finalists will get to perform on stage in front of hundreds of people at the King Of The Village Carnival on Sunday October 5, 2008. The carnival will be held in the Village Green Park, Logan Village and also incorporates competitions in BMX, Dance, Art. There will be rides, food stalls and possibly skydivers.

Who can enter?

                                Bands with guy or girl members aged between 12 and 25 years old. All quality bands looking to promote their musical talent are encouraged to enter. Places are limited due to time restrictions, so register now!!! All styles of music will be considered but please note: music containing swearing, racism, homophobia and hate will not be accepted.           

Terms and Conditions                 ·Each band is given 20 minutes to demonstrate their musical skill to the audience and panel of judges.

                                                ·Bands must play at least 50% cover tunes and 50% original music.

·Bands have a range of categories they will be judged on. Each judge awards scores between  1-10 in every category. The band  with the highest score will win.  Prizes will be awarded for 1st,  2nd and 3rd place. The judges decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

·Band members must be aged between 12-25 years old inclusive.

PLEASE NOTE : The MusicKings Band Clash will not accept bands with lyrics containing swearing, racism, homophobia or songs of hate. Places are limited due to time restrictions. Places cannot be held until completed registration forms are returned.

What to bring?                 ·You are required to bring all of your own musical instruments.                                                                                      ·Sound and stage will be set up for both the heats and final.

·Two assistants per band are allowed backstage to help with set up  and take down. They are not required to pay an entry fee but are required to wear Official Band Member I.D. These will be supplied.

How do I register?                ·Simply fill out the Registration Form and send it back to MusicKings Youth Band Clash - (PO Box 60 Waterford 4133) with your entry fee. Please do not send cash. Cheque or money                 orders made out to Logan Village Community Centre.

·We will be in touch with you to discuss your song selection and procedure for the night of the competition.

·If you have band members or assistants under 18 years old, competition rules require a parent/guardian to sign a waiver.
